Our Vision

Jesus said “Make Disciples”

Before Jesus left his disciples, he told them to make, baptize and teach new disciples through the power of His Holy Spirit. (see Matt 28:19-20).

Simply put, this is our vision – to make disciples. We believe the Christian message, unaltered, is the most important message in the world. Because we believe this, we want to obey Jesus’ commandment to make disciples of individuals in the context of Christian Community. This is why we are committed to sharing the teachings of Jesus and the planting of new churches.

Gospel, Gather, Go!

The Gospel otherwise known as the “good news,” is a powerful message. It is the starting point for all Jesus’ teachings. Some, when they hear this message will respond to it and have their lives transformed. They will be filled with the Spirit of God. Their lives will bear fruit like love, joy, peace, patience kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control.

When people are changed by the gospel, their relationships will also be changed. This is why we Gather in Christian community. It is not an obligation to hang out with other Christians, but a privilege and a joy. We will encourage each other in Christian living.

But we don’t stay in our “Christian huddles” either. Jesus gave us a mission. Christians are to be like flowing water, not stagnant puddles. Jesus told us to Go make disciples, to baptize them, and teach them what He commanded us. He will be with us always.

Do you have the “Marks of a Disciple?”

LifeSpring recognizes seven marks of a disciple. More might be added. A different list might be compiled, but we believe these seven are memorable and broad enough that other teachings of Jesus might be considered under these headings.

Worship

The purpose of our lives is not pleasure, power, or possessions. It is not even to do as much good as we can while we are alive – although that is a noble and worthwhile endeavor. But if we want to hit the center of the “bull’s-eye,” we have to say that the purpose of our lives is to worship God and to enjoy Him forever. We can do that only within the context of a relationship with Jesus Christ.

Humility

In order to worship God, we need to understand the truth about who He is and about who we are. Jesus made Himself nothing for our sakes so that we could have hope. God the Father, lifted up Jesus into glory because of Jesus’ humility. There is nothing so poisonous as pride and nothing we need more than humility in order to enter into a relationship with God. We acknowledge that He is everything, we are nothing and God lifts us up into glory.

Love

God is love. When we worship our creator and humble ourselves, we are in a better place to love God and people. When we love others, we will serve them and care for their needs. We will be patient, kind and long-suffering. There is no truth without love and no love without truth. If we could only choose one word to describe Christianity as Jesus intended it to be, the word would be love. Disciples of Jesus will be known for their love for one another.

Truth

Truth provides the content for love. If we say that we love God, but won’t acknowledge Him as He truly is then we don’t really love Him. Neither do we love others when we act falsely towards them. As the apostle John wrote, “If we claim to have fellowship with him yet walk in the darkness, we lie and do not live by the truth (1 John 1:6).” The more we learn about God from Scripture, the more we will find areas in our lives that don’t match up with His commands. When God shows us these areas, He also gives us the strength to change.

Hope

Faith and hope are two sides of the same coin. By faith we hope in what is to come through Jesus Christ. We trust that God is faithful and that what He has written is true. This is not blind faith nor wishful hope, but rather faith based on the firm promises of God and hope in that which we know will come to pass. When our faith and hope are in God through Jesus Christ, our actions will reflect this. Where our treasure is there our heart will be also (Matt 6:21).

Mission

Because we worship God in humility and love Him in truth, we want to share our bright hope for the future with other people. Jesus told us to make disciples, to be His witnesses by the power of the Holy Spirit. We want to share the life-giving message of Jesus because we believe it is the most important message in the world. The world cannot be fixed by anything less than heart surgery. God bought and paid for this surgery through the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ. It is up to those whose hearts have been changed to deliver the message.

Disciple

In order to make disciples, we have to be disciples. We seek to live out the truth of the Gospel through the power of the Holy Spirit. When others look at us, we want them to see the light of Jesus. Being a disciple of Jesus Christ is a joyful experience. Do you have this joy?
